Description
Holy Well, also known as Holy Lake, is a spring located in Stoke Sub Hamdon. The date of its construction is uncertain. It features near-ashlar ham stone and consists of a small stone trough at ground level, measuring about 400 mm square, with a stone shelf above it. The backing wall has two small raked buttresses on either side of the bowl, and water flows from an iron spout in the back wall. There is no known reason for the name or the history of this spring.
