Description
The gates, gatepiers, and walls at the entrance to The Vicarage date from the early 19th century. The gate piers are made of ashlar stone and feature a moulded plinth, recessed panels, segmental gables, and ball finials. The walls on either side are constructed from brick with an ashlar front, curved in shape, and have a chamfered plinth and flat coping with a cavetto moulded cornice. They stand about 1.25 meters high and extend approximately 5 meters in length. The double gates are made of cast iron, with trefoil-headed gabled uprights and a quatrefoil-decorated frieze across the center. This structure is part of a notable group with The Vicarage and the Church of St George.
