Description
Hillside is a detached house dating from the late 18th century, located on the southwest side of Bath Road in Norton St. Philip. The building is constructed of stucco and features a Welsh slate coped gable roof with stone ridge tiles, as well as ashlar stone end chimney stacks that have weathered strings and moulded caps.
The house is two stories tall and has a three-window front with a central entrance. The entrance consists of a six-moulded panel door, with the top two panels glazed, set within bead-moulded stone architraves. The windows are 12-pane sash windows framed in bead-moulded stone. On the first floor, the central window is a 15-pane design with a semi-circular head, also in a bead-moulded stone frame that features expressed key stones.
The front railings and gate are supported by a chamfered stone plinth and consist of cast iron railings and a gate mounted on octagonal gate supports with moulded caps. The design includes semi-circular arches on decorated columns adorned with arrowheads and fleur de lys.
