Description
Somerlea is a house dating from the late 18th century, constructed of random rubble with rusticated ashlar quoins and a pantile roof featuring coped verges and brick stacks at the apex. The building has a symmetrical facade with two storeys and three bays, which include sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded stone architraves. The central door opening is framed by a similar surround, topped with a stone hood supported by moulded stone brackets. The door itself is six-panelled, with the top two panels being glazed.
In front of the house, there is a low forecourt wall with dressed coping that ends in low ashlar piers on either side, each topped with pyramidal caps. To the left, a further section of rubble wall extends, leading to a gateway flanked by ashlar piers. The gateway features a pair of cast iron gates with plain railings.
