Description

These five terraced houses, numbered 1 to 5 Prospect Place, were built in 1816. They are constructed of ashlar stone and have a Welsh slate roof, with a basement level. The properties are three storeys high and feature five double-hung sash windows, some with glazing bars. Access to the doorways is via steps. Nos. 2 and 5 retain their original curved, pedimented doorhoods, which are decorated with carved modillions. No. 5 has radiating panels that have been blocked up. The front door of No. 2 has six fielded panels, while No. 3 has a more modern door. No. 4 also has a door with six fielded panels. A passage runs through the properties, located to the left of centre, and is marked by a plaque inscribed “Prospect Place Erected by Gideon Smales ADMDCCCXVI”. The buildings form a group with the adjoining properties at Nos. 1 to 10 Prospect Place.
