Description

Aske Bridge is a late 18th-century bridge made of ashlar sandstone. It features a single segmental arch with an archivolt, which is supported by pilaster buttresses that include recessed shell niches. There is a decorative band along the structure. The parapets have segmental coping that ends in circular bollards. Between the band and the coping on the buttresses are vermiculated paterae. This bridge may have been designed by Lancelot (Capability) Brown for Sir Lawrence Dundas.
