Description

The gate piers to Allerthorpe Hall date from the early 17th century and are constructed of ashlar stone. They are square in plan and feature a plinth and rusticated piers. Each inner face has rusticated pilasters that are set back, complete with moulded cornices and brackets. The entablature includes a moulded band at the base, a frieze with two panels on each face, a large moulded cornice, and a blocking course topped with large cushion and ball finials. These gate piers are listed for their group value with the house.
