Description

6 Gowthorpe is an early to mid 18th century building located on the north side of Gowthorpe, which became the main shopping street of Selby, leading to the marketplace and Selby Abbey. The building is roughcast with a pitched and sprocketed pantile roof and has two storeys. It features a modillioned eaves cornice and is arranged in two bays, one of which has a blocked window, while the other has a flush-framed sash. The narrow rear range of 6 Gowthorpe is part of a historical burgage plot that extended along the northern side of the street towards Selby Dam.
