Description
Clapham Station's passenger waiting room, built around 1870 for the Midland Railway, is located on the east platform. It is constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building is single-storey and consists of three bays. The central entrance is gabled and has a chamfered 'Tudor' lintel, with chamfered bargeboards on the gable. To the left and right of the entrance, there are single-light windows with basket-arched lintels, which retain their original diamond pane iron glazing bars and margin lights. The building has a broad eaves cornice and large modillions. Each side of the building features a two-light flat-faced mullioned window with a basket-arched lintel, also with diamond pane iron glazing bars and margin lights. The wooden gable-end coping and bargeboards are similar to those on the entrance gable.
