Description

A pair of cottages dated to the late 18th or early 19th century. The cottages are built of rubble stone with a roof of stone slates laid in diminishing courses.

Number 5, on the north side, is a double-fronted cottage with a central door recessed within a pilastered surround topped by a hood supported on corbels. This surround was previously described as modern. It has symmetrically placed windows, with modern multi-paned sash windows. Ground-floor windows have flat arches formed with stone voussoirs. Two double-flued chimneys rise from the ridge as end stacks.

Number 3, on the south side, is single-fronted. Its door is located to the right of a ground-floor window, with a first-floor window above the space between the two ground-floor openings. The first-floor window is a Yorkshire sliding sash, while the ground floor has a vertical sash window. All openings are topped with flat arches constructed of rubble stone voussoirs. A single-flue gable end stack is present.
