Description
The dovecote and storage range, located approximately 150 metres to the north-west of Clifton Castle, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of rubblestone and ashlar, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The dovecote itself is two storeys high and consists of one bay. To the left, there is a single-storey wing with six bays, and to the right, another single-storey wing with two bays.
The dovecote features quoins and a semicircular-arched board carriage door with impost bands. Above this door is a semicircular blind opening, which contains a semicircular window with radial glazing bars and a stone cill at the top. The roof is pyramidal and is topped with a small pavilion that has pigeon holes and a pyramidal roof. The side wings have casement windows with glazing bars and lintels, except for four bays on the left wing that have cart openings with a continuous wood lintel and segmental relieving arches; these openings have been infilled in the 20th century.
