Description
Low Ellington School House is an early 19th-century building that incorporates fragments from the medieval period. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building is single-storey and has two bays. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door that is flanked by medieval fluted pilasters and a moulded segmental arch. On either side of the door are two three-light chamfered mullion windows, each with drip-moulds and a small piece of medieval tracery above. The building has stone coping and end stacks. The medieval fragments are likely sourced from Jervaulx Abbey.
