Description

Tanpit Bridge is an early 19th-century bridge constructed of deeply-coursed dressed stone, featuring a brick-lined soffit. It has a single span that carries the road over the River Went, characterized by a segmental arch with a raised keystone. Beneath the parapet, there is a band with chamfered copings that step up to a block at each end. The bridge does not have end piers. It is illustrated in "Norton Parish Council, Norton, Campsall, Sutton, Photographic Reflection," published in 1984, on page 19.
