Description
Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, built in 1829, is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a graduated stone slate roof. This plain rectangular building is oriented north-south and features an entry in the south gable, measuring approximately five bays in length. The south gable end has central 20th-century double doors set in a stone surround, flanked by two large first-floor windows with stone surrounds and projecting sills. Above the door is a datestone that reads 'Wesleyan Methodist Chapel 1829' along with a biblical quotation. There is a stone rainwater head connected to a stone gutter on the east side, with a likely original iron downpipe to the right. The building has kneelers that return as eaves bands, gable coping, and a circular chimney pot at the apex. The north gable features a paired window similar to those on the south, with additional similar windows on the west and east sides. An attached block to the north-west, dated 1923, is not of special interest. The datestone may be a mid to late 19th-century recut of the original.
