Description
Foal Cote House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of gritstone and has a 20th-century pantile roof. The building is two storeys high and features two first-floor windows, along with a rear outshut and a lower range to the left that is set at right angles. The central entrance consists of a 19th-century panelled door, while the flanking and first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes set within flush wood architraves. Sawn-stone sills and lintels are present throughout the structure, and it has a projecting eaves band with end stacks.
The interior of the main block has not been inspected, but the left-hand range contains a large open fireplace with a mantle beam and a substantial ceiling beam in the central room. This wing is currently used as a chicken house. At the rear of the main block, there is a four-panel door, three side-sliding sashes, and one vertical sash with glazing bars. The right return features a blocked first-floor door and additional side-sliding sashes.
