Description

This is an 18th-century manor house, now in dual ownership. It is constructed of sandstone and brick, with a red-brown brick front, a stone plinth, and quoins. Bands originally present on the first floor and eaves have been removed, revealing traces of splayed stone lintels and keystones. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, and modern chimneys are located on the gable end and ridge. The house is two stories high and originally five bays wide, although patching suggests the windows were arranged differently originally. A modern half-glazed door is centrally positioned, flanked by two windows and topped with a large, flat hood. A further 20th-century half-glazed door with an oblong fanlight provides access to Manor Cottage. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars set in flush wood architraves. The house occupies an important position in the village and contributes to the group value of the surrounding buildings, including the church.
