Description
The Red House is a house dated 1754, built from pinkish-brown local brick. It features a first-floor band and a stone plinth, topped with a Welsh slate roof that has end chimneys. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. Stone steps lead to the central entrance, which has a deeply set 19th-century six-panel door with an oblong fanlight, along with panelled reveals and soffit. On either side of the entrance, there are 19th-century canted bays that contain sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has two late 19th-century sash windows in flush wood architraves, set under flat brick arches. Above the date stone, there is a 20th-century window in a blocked central panel. Inside, there is a closed string stair with turned balusters, square newels, and a ramped handrail. The ceiling features stout chamfered beams with tongued stops, and there is a round-arched corner cupboard with a wooden architrave and key.
