Description

The Rustic Temple by the Lake is a folly built around 1750 for William Aislabie. Constructed from large ashlar blocks, it is roofless and has a half octagon shape, standing at one storey. The central opening features a large lintel and is flanked by two square openings, each with large lintels. Inside, there is a round-headed niche in the middle of the back wall. The structure was derelict at the time of the last survey. For historical context, refer to Fisher's Hall, Hackfall. The site is part of the North Yorkshire Historic Gardens Register, designated as Grade I.
