Description
No 8 Queen Street is a mid-19th century building that is part of the same structure as No 7. It originally had a stone slate roof. The ground and first floors were rebuilt with framed construction in the late 19th century and are fully glazed. The design features turned mullions with moulded capitals that support moulded spandrels, and fluted pilasters at either end that hold fluted consoles. The ground floor includes a porch with curved corners, and the door has a glazed panel featuring the words "Rayner Gents Mercer" stencilled in gold leaf in a flamboyant contemporary style.
Inside, there is a well-preserved contemporary shop interior with a panelled and grained counter, along with shelves supported by turned balusters.
