Description
The gate piers located to the south-east of No 1 Hartforth Village date from the early to mid-19th century and were built for the Cradock family of Hartforth Hall. They are constructed from ashlar sandstone featuring herringbone tooling and draughted margins. There are two gate piers, each square in plan, with chamfered bases, square abaci, convex caps, and ball finials. These gate piers share the same design as the nearby gate piers at the south drive of Hartforth Hall. They served to separate the village of Hartforth from its access road coming from Hartforth Lane.
