Description

This building is an outbuilding located approximately 5 metres west of the range of outbuildings attached to The Old Hall. It is a carriage shed and stable with a loft, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The structure is made of hammer-dressed sandstone and features bordered herringbone-tooled quoins and a pantile roof. It is 1½ storeys tall and has a four-window front. In the center, there is an elliptical arch made of voussoirs, with a small window and a 20th-century door to the right, both set under bordered herringbone-tooled lintels. The loft has four single-pane windows with similar lintels. On the gable wall to the right, there is a flight of stone steps leading to a plank door for the loft. Below the steps, there is another door with a tooled lintel. This building is included for its group value with The Old Hall.
