Description
Castle Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid to late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a pebbledashed facade with ashlar dressings and a cast-tile roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays arranged in a 1-2-1 pattern, with a central taller section that projects forward. There is a range at the rear. The architectural style is Gothick. The central entrance has a 20th-century glazed door with a pointed-arched overlight. The flanking and first-floor windows are pointed sashes with glazing bars set within ashlar surrounds, while the outer bays have blind and painted windows. There is a similar painted opening in the centre of the central bay, raised above the first-floor level. The building features embattled parapets and rear stacks. It was designed to be visually striking from the windows of Stapleton Hall.
