Description
The courtyard walls of Walburn Hall are located on the west side of the A6108 road. These walls date from the 15th century, with some restoration occurring in the early 19th century. They are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and stand approximately 4 metres high. The front wall is about 12 metres long and features a double studded board door set in a chamfered ashlar surround, topped with a segmental arch and label. An embattled parapet with feather-edged coping rises above the doorway. The wall extends approximately 10 metres along the west side of the courtyard. Inside, there is a wide paved parapet walk, accessible by steps in the north-west corner. The front wall continues for about 20 metres to the west, in front of a farmyard, and includes a central ashlar gateway and a narrower parapet walk.
