Description
96 Church Street is a late 18th-century building with an earlier core. It stands three storeys high with attics, constructed from painted brick. The roof is covered with pantiles and features two sloped dormers, one of which has glazing bars. The front elevation includes three windows with flat stone arches and no glazing bars. There is a double shop window supported by four consoles and a fascia, with modern glazing bars and a door. The rear elevation has stone mullion windows, some of which are partly blocked. Inside, there are remnants of panelling from the early 18th century or earlier, and the roof retains its original timbers. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 84 to 90 (even), the Former White Horse Inn, The Black Horse Public House, Nos 93 to 100 (consecutive), Nos 105 to 112A (consecutive), and Nos 114 to 117 (consecutive).
