Description

This is a house and cottage, likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with later raising and extensions in the 19th century, and further alterations at a later date. The building is constructed of chalkstone with a brick extension, all now whitewashed, and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. It presents a low two-storey facade with four windows. An outbuilding is attached to the left. A segment-arched board door provides access to number 26, located on the right-hand side, with two-light, large-pane horizontal-sliding sashes to the left and above. A board door with a timber lintel serves number 28, flanked by two-light, 12-pane horizontal-sliding sashes, with a small fixed-light window inserted to the right. First-floor windows are similarly two-light, small-pane horizontal-sliding sashes. Timber lintels are present above the ground-floor windows. A cogged brick eaves course runs along the roof. Brick stacks are situated at the ends and at the left and right-of-centre positions of the building. The attached outbuilding has no openings facing the street.
