Description

The south portal of the railway tunnel, built around 1851 for the East and West Yorkshire Junction Railway, is constructed from gritstone. It features a round arch made with ashlar voussoirs, which are flanked by plain pilasters. The structure includes a moulded plinth, machicolations located below the string course, and a plain parapet.
