Description
This is a dovecote attached to the north-west corner of farm buildings, located approximately 20 metres north-west of Heslerton Hall. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of red and vitreous brick in a random bond, featuring a tooled sandstone band. The roof is made of red and blue pantiles, topped with sandstone ridge stones, and has a timber glover with a lead cap. The dovecote is square in shape and has one and a half storeys with a one-bay front. On the north side, there is a 19th-century board door set in a low segment-arched doorway. A raised band runs around the entire building, and there are blocked roundels in brick surrounds on both the north and south sides. The west side features a glazed circular window with radiating bars, while the east side has a rectangular opening with two tiers of doveholes. The eaves course is raised and dentilled, and the roof is pyramidal with a domed glover and a wrought-iron weather-vane at the top. The farm buildings to which it is attached are not of special interest.
