Description
Number 8 and attached railings is a house dating from around 1732, located on the west side of North End in Bedale. The building is constructed of red brick and features a machine tile roof. It stands three storeys tall with a basement and has five bays. Access to the front door is via three stone steps, which lead to a fanlight with radial glazing bars, set within a Doric doorcase that includes attached columns and an open dentilled pediment. To the right of the door, the basement has a window and a half-glazed door.
On the ground floor, there are sash windows, while the first floor features a band and more sash windows. The second floor has a band and 4-pane sashes. All windows are topped with flat brick arches and have stone cills. The building has shaped kneelers with stone coping, along with end stacks and one ridge stack. The attached railings are made of wrought iron and are located on each side of the door steps and along the frontage, featuring spear-finialled bars.
