Description
This stone is located on the south bank of the River Skell, directly south of Mill Farm, which is situated on the north bank of the river and just outside the municipal boundary. The stone dates from 1820 and is made of ashlar. It features an iron plaque that is inscribed with the following text: "RIPON NAVIGATION 1820 LEVEL OF SKELL CROOKS DAM SEVEN FEET BELOW THIS MARK."
