Description
The gates, gate piers, and railings at Low Lodge date from the 19th century and were commissioned by Lord Ripon of Studley Park. Made of cast iron, this robust set of gates measures approximately 8 metres in length. It features central double gates with square-section bars and pyramidal finials, accented by central scroll handles on the lower bolts and lock rails. The gates are attached to cylindrical piers that stand about 2 metres high, each with a moulded base, cornice, and a shallow cone-shaped cap. The flanking railings and the outer pair of piers are designed in the same style. Additionally, there is a low pedestrian gate positioned at right angles to the left pier, providing access to the Lodge. Traces of red, gold, and black paint are still visible.
