Description
Blue Row is a row of five cottages located on Main Street in Kepwick, built for the Kepwick Hall estate in the early to mid 19th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared stone and topped with a Welsh slate roof. They are single storey, with each cottage featuring two bays and a continuous rear outshut. The design includes a plinth and herringbone-tooled quoins. Each cottage has steps leading up to a board door, which is set to the left of centre within a flush wooden architrave, and is flanked by short 8-pane sash windows. All openings are topped with herringbone-tooled ashlar lintels, and the windows have projecting cills. The cottages also feature an eaves band, shaped kneelers, and ashlar coping. There are six corniced stacks located at the ends and along the ridge above the party walls.
