Description
The terrace walls to the north, west, and south of Ripley Castle were likely built around 1780 for Sir John Ingilby. They are made of coursed squared gritstone and extend approximately 60 meters along the west side, returning for about 30 meters along the north side and 20 meters along the south side. The walls consist of 6 to 8 courses of masonry and feature low square projections at the terminals and corners. They also include a moulded string course and crenellated parapets. These walls are noted in the North Yorkshire Historic Gardens Register as part of the Grade II listed Ripley Castle.
