Description
Nos 1 and 2 Castle Ings Gardens is a row of three cottages that have been combined into one house. They date from the 18th century and early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone, featuring a Westmorland slate roof on the right side and a stone slate roof on the left.
The structure is two stories high, with a two-bay house on the left and two two-story cottages totaling three bays on the left. The central door of the right-hand cottage has been converted into a window. There are 20th-century half-glazed doors at the center and left, and a large bow window with small panes to the left of the central door. The remaining windows are all sash windows with glazing bars set in flush wood architraves. The right-hand house has a steeply-pitched roof and end stacks, while the additional cottages to the left have a lower ridge line and a stack at the left end of each cottage.
