Description
Park House is a farmhouse dated 1847, built for the Duke of Northumberland. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features Westmorland slate roofs, showcasing a Jacobethan style. The building has an irregular plan, standing two storeys high with a loft, and consists of three bays, with the central bay projecting and gabled. It includes a Tudor-arched doorway and double-chamfered mullion windows that retain their original diamond glazing. Park House is of similar style and quality to three other farmhouses on the estate from the same period: Manor Farm in Aldbrough St John, Carlton Green in Carlton, and Wharton's Farmhouse in Melsonby. Close inspection was not permitted at the time of the resurvey.
