Description
Heaves Farmhouse and the attached barn to the south are a combined structure dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and lean-to additions on the west side. The barn is believed to be from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The building features limestone rubble walls, some of which are roughcast, and has a graduated greenslate roof with a stone ridge and one chimney stack at the ridge, along with another chimney stack on the lean-to. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the main front facing east, displaying three irregular bays that contain 20th-century windows and a door. The barn has four doors on the lower floor and wagon doors on the first floor, which are accessed via a ramp. Inside the farmhouse, there is a spice cupboard marked with the initials and date W and A W 1665, as well as an altered early 18th-century staircase featuring turned balusters. The barn's interior consists of seven bays, with a roof supported by simple collar and tie beam trusses, a ridge piece, and two levels of purlins.
