Description

The property comprises two buildings dating from the mid-19th century in Appleby-in-Westmorland. No. 15 is a two-storey schoolhouse, likely constructed around 1849, originally with roughcast rendering over stone, stone quoins, and a slate roof. It has a gable end facing the road and features two 16-paned sash windows on each floor, with a door located on the left-hand return side. The former British School building itself—founded in 1808—is a single-storey structure, now used as a builders’ merchant. It has an inscribed stone indicating "British School 1849" and a round-arched doorway, along with a pair of windows in a Gothic style.
