Description

Fern Cottage and an adjoining barn/stable form a former farmhouse and agricultural building, dating to the early 19th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with flush quoins, topped with a graduated greenslate roof and roughcast chimney stacks. The main house is two storeys high and has two bays. A lower, three-bay barn and stable are attached to the right-hand side, all under the same roof. The house features a central 20th-century entrance within a stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars are set within raised stone surrounds. The barn has a segmental-arched cart entrance and two irregular casement windows. The stable, at the far right, has a plank door in a stone surround, along with a loft doorway above and a further casement window in a stone surround. The buildings occupy a prominent location opposite the village green.
