Description
Warcop War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, located on a triangular green at the junction of the B6259, Brookside, and Castlehill Road in Warcop, Cumbria. The memorial features a sandstone obelisk mounted on a moulded plinth that includes bronze inscription panels, all set on a two-tiered base. The memorial is surrounded by a low kerbed square area with small wooden posts and chains. At the top of the obelisk, a laurel wreath is carved, while a sword and rifle are carved at the base, beneath the inscriptions.
The inscriptions read: 1914 – 18/ PARISH OF WARCOP/ LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES/ IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ (NAMES)/ 1939 – 1945/ (NAMES)// WHO DIES IF ENGLAND LIVE.
