Description
Appleby Station, East Platform Building is a railway station built in 1876 for the Midland Railway. It is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is a single-storey, single-depth range. The platform elevation includes four paired sash windows with stone heads and a plain doorway. The south gable end has a 2-light window, while the gables are adorned with trefoils and fretted bargeboards. The north gable end has a plain doorway instead of a window as originally designed. This building is part of an almost unaltered example of the large type of Settle and Carlisle Station, and it is included for its group value.
