Description
Sedgwick Hill Bridge is a canal bridge built in 1818 by engineer John Fletcher, based on the original designs of John Rennie, whose route for the Lancaster/Kendal Canal was authorized in 1792. The bridge is constructed of squared, coursed limestone and features a limestone string and coping. It has a single elliptical arch made of rusticated voussoirs and a keystone. The flat parapets are approximately 10 feet wide between them. The east side of the bridge is built into an embankment, and the canal is currently dry.
