Description
Sella Park, formerly known as Stella Park Hotel, is a house that incorporates a 14th century pele tower into a late 17th century structure, with restorations from the 19th century. The building is constructed of roughcast stone rubble, with some parts exposed, and features ashlar dressings and slate roofs.
The north elevation has three storeys and seven bays, with the first bay having two storeys beneath a gable, and the second bay projecting under a gable. The design includes quoins and coped gables, with single-chamfered mullioned windows. The ground and first floors have windows with transoms and label moulds; the first bay, likely from the 19th century, has two lights, while the third to seventh bays feature three-light windows arranged in a pattern of 3:3:2:3:3 under a continuous label mould. Other windows consist of three lights. The entrance to the second bay has a four-centred head, side lights, and an overlight. The building has gable-end stacks and cross-axial stacks.
The south elevation is similar to the north, featuring a two-storey, two-bay wing under a hipped roof, along with a 20th-century glazed lean-to outshut. The sixth bay is partly from the 14th century. The fenestration varies, with two- and three-light transomed windows. The west return includes two-light transomed windows, while the west return has three- and four-light windows. The interior has not been inspected but is said to contain a spiral stair, a 17th-century stair, 16th-century window openings from the former south exterior wall, and fireplaces.
