Description
North Lodge and gate piers to Pelham House are located on the west side of the A595 in Beckermet. This building dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of ashlar with a hipped slate roof. It is a single-storey structure designed in a Greek cross plan, featuring severe architectural details, a plain cornice, and a blocking course.
The west elevation includes a recessed porch supported by unfluted Doric columns in antis, with a 20th-century half-glazed door and overlight. A central stack with a cornice is present on this side. The north elevation features pilaster strips and a sash window with glazing bars, along with an inserted casement window to the right. Both the east and south elevations have 20th-century flat-roofed extensions.
The property is flanked by four rusticated gate piers, which are complemented by low walls. Each pier has a half-round projection on each face and is capped with an entablature. The outer piers are topped with urn finials, while the inner piers have plinths displaying the Stanley arms.
