Description

Kirkgate Corner is a building dated 1755, located on St Helen's Street. It has three storeys and features heavy quoins. The ground floor includes a door and a former shop window, which has been converted into a house. There are two sash windows on the first floor and one in the top of the gable, all set in moulded stone frames. A heart-shaped stone displays the date on the first floor. The Kirkgate facade has a panelled door that is accessed by four steps and is inset into the thickness of the wall. There is also a cellar door that is half below pavement level, a small-paned cellar window at ground level, and two sash windows on each upper floor. Kirkgate Corner is part of a group of listed buildings in Market Place.
