Description
Low Millgillhead is a house, likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with various additions and alterations. The structure is made of wet-dashed rubble with quoins and features hipped roofs covered in graduated slate, along with rendered chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall.
The narrow road-facing elevation has three bays, with a central panelled door set in a stone surround topped by a shaped stucco pediment. On either side of the door, there are sash windows with glazing bars, also in stone surrounds, on both floors. The garden elevation, which has five bays, includes two doors—one located in a gabled porch—and a variety of windows, including a large stair window with glazing bars.
Adjoining the south end of the house at a right angle is a lower coach house that has been converted into a dwelling. This coach house features seven stable doors and a semicircular-headed coach entrance, some of which are now blocked or partially blocked. The ground floor also includes six windows and two small glazed pitching eyes above. The adjoining garages are not considered of interest.
