Description
The barn adjoining to the north of Raby Cote is a late 17th-century structure that now serves as a woodstore and washhouse. It features whitewashed rendered clay walls that have been repaired with brick and is topped with a sandstone slate roof. The barn is a single storey with three bays and has two plank doors located behind a 20th-century large glazed porch. To the right, there is a shippon made of brick that incorporates tracery sculptured panels from Holme Cultram Abbey. Inside, the barn has three pairs of upper crucks. A further brick extension to the right is not of interest.
