Description
Whitegate is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed red sandstone with a green slate roof and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has four bays with a double span. The stone entrance porch features squared pilasters, a plain entablature, and a moulded cornice supported by ornamented console brackets. The entrance includes a six-panel door flanked by sidelights and a glazed fanlight. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set within plain surrounds. The house has raised quoins and a moulded cornice that extends around to create a double pedimented gable, which is topped with stone coping. The listing does not include the recessed extension to the right, which is now a separate property.
