Description
This building on High Street, Wootton, appears to date from an earlier period than the inscribed date of 1765, although it was clearly renovated or built in the 18th century. It is a two-story building with attics, distinguished by a first-floor band. The exterior is constructed from squared ironstone rubble with a chamfered plinth. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, with stone coped gable ends, kneelers, and flanking chimneys.
The first floor features a pair of two-light wood mullioned and transomed casement windows. A canted bay window with a dentil cornice is located on the left side of the ground floor. A central mezzanine level incorporates a mullioned and transomed leaded window. A lattice casement window has been inserted on the right side of the ground floor, replacing the original canted bay window. Keystones are present above some of the windows. A single-story wing extends from the left side, featuring two leaded casement windows. The building is part of a group with Clare Cottage, located on Quinton Road.
