Description

27 High Street is a late 17th-century building constructed of ashlar stone. It features a machine-tiled roof with a modern modillioned cornice. The building stands three storeys high and has three sash windows, along with a projecting full-height bay that has a hipped tiled roof. The ground floor has modern shop windows topped with early 19th-century modillioned cornices. Inside, the ground floor has been modernized, while the first floor retains a 17th-century oak panelled room. There is a fine staircase that is said to run from the first to the second floor, and a stone chimneypiece on the first floor with moulded chamfers and a flattened pointed arch.
