Description

Lamport Hall Stables is a stable building dating from the late 16th century, with alterations around 1680 and 1907. It features regular coursed lias and squared coursed lias with a slate roof laid to diminishing courses. The building has a courtyard plan and is two storeys high, with some parts having attics.

The garden elevation consists of an 11-window range of 2-light stone mullions, with ground floor windows that include transoms and blank bottom lights, all fitted with leaded diamond panes. To the right, there is a four-window range with moulded and eared architraves. A central carriage arch is framed by a moulded stone surround and keystone. A straight joint on the right indicates the extent of the 16th-century work, while the left side dates to around 1680. There is also a blank carriage arch to the right, featuring a moulded stone surround and bolection moulded keystone, with reset stone mullion windows in the centre.

The gable parapets are made of ashlar, topped with an ashlar stack and weathervane at the end. The other ranges that form three sides of the courtyard were built in 1907 and include garaging and stabling. The central carriage arch has a gable above it with a clock set in an ashlar surround. A similar range of stables to the west once formed the third side of the courtyard with the house but was demolished in 1829.
