Description

Duston House is a mid-19th century house, said to have been built in 1822 by William Samwell but much altered at that time in a classical style. The house is constructed of stucco, with a Welsh slated roof concealed behind a balustraded parapet topped with ball finials. It is two storeys high, featuring an entablature with a modillion cornice and vermiculated quoins. Four sash windows with glazing bars are set within architrave surrounds. A round-headed doorway with a fanlight within an archivolt is sheltered by a Corinthian porch. The house has wings; a lower two-storey wing extends to the right, and a single-storey wing to the left.
